Tragedy

Time should nullify pain
As easily as it nullifies
Relationships, families,
Friendships,
And joy.

Time should wash away
Sadness and despair
As easily as it
Washes away hope and happiness

It’s come down to this
And I don’t know who I am anymore,
Don’t know where I’m going
Or what I’m living for

I look in the mirror, and my hands are tied
I give it my best, pretend to smile
When inside I’m seething, anxious,
Burning down
Like stars falling out of galaxies
I can’t tell what’s wrong with me

I throw myself at these walls, and
Memories become just a distant lullaby
Time may dull sadness and pain, but
It never nullifies
