Literature Text

Your eyes were ablaze with some
Sweet virgin fire
A melodramatic effigy
To the virtue within you

It tickled me greatly
To see you get all flustered
As if I were some pagan goddess
And you stood, naked, at my alter

I remember you blushing cutely
Each time I told you
The secret colors of my insides
And the ways virtue can be undone
As words were rewritten and
Your hands trembled in mine
I felt the light in you
Dim to my shine

But you were an angel yet,
And it irked me so
That I couldn't spoil your innocence
And watch your darkness grow

But you, like an eagle,
Soared high above me
And flew far from my ministrations
And thus, you are free
About the battle between right and wrong, growing up, and something personal.

This is one of the poems I get to like even since the first line, brilliant, especially this: "That I couldn't spoil your innocence"
